Your location
Your location is shared only during a trip, only with the people in that trip, and only after the copilot taps Start sharing. Sharing stops when you arrive or the trip ends.
Trip data (members, locations, stops) is kept only on the trip's server storage and deleted 24 hours after the trip ends, or 3 days after the departure time if nobody ends it.
No accounts
There are no accounts. Your name and vehicle are stored in your browser and shown only to the people in your trip. A random device ID identifies your phone.
What we measure, and why
To learn whether the app works for real groups, we count anonymous usage events: a trip was created, someone joined, a link was shared, a car arrived, the connection dropped, an error happened. These help us see where people get stuck and fix it.
We record a sample of sessions (about 1 in 4) to see how the app is used. All text and everything you type is hidden in these recordings, and the map is never recorded.
Events are linked only to the random device ID and the trip code. We never send your location, place names, your name, your vehicle, an email or a phone number to analytics.
Services we use
Cloudflare hosts the app and the trip data. PostHog (servers in the United States) receives the anonymous usage events. Map images come from OpenFreeMap, and place search sends what you type to Photon (komoot). Fonts load from Google Fonts. Waze, Google Maps and WhatsApp open only when you tap their buttons.
Your rights
Panama's personal data protection law (Ley 81 de 2019) gives you the right to access, correct, delete and object to the use of your data. Write to hello@sharedroutes.app and we will answer.
